| The Las Vegas-Review Journal Editorial Essay Program for High School Students Students are to compose a well-written editorial commentary on the monthly topic. New topics will be announced on the first Monday for each month of the school year. Look for a new topic each month! Final drafts are due on the last Friday of the month by 5:00 p.m. (Be sure to leave time for school mail transit). Las Vegas-Review Journal Editorial Essay Program Knight American History Essay Contest The Nevada Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is announcing the Knight American History Essay Contest. This contest is open to all 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students. Students write an essay on an event, person, philosophy, or ideal associated with the American Revolution, the Declaration of Independence, or the framing of the United States Constitution. The first place Nevada winner will receive $300 and the second place Nevada winner will receive $100. The first place national winner will receive $2,000, a winning recognition certificate, airfare and one night hotel for two at the SAR 119th Annual Congress in Atlanta. Essays must be postmarked by December 31, 2008. Winners will be notified by March 2009. Additional details can be found at the following location.
